Once you’re enrolled in Original Medicare, you have the option to enroll in Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, as long as there is a plan available in your area.
Medicare Advantage is Part C. It allows beneficiaries to get the same coverage as Original Medicare, along with additional benefits, such as:
- Prescription drug coverage
- Dental, vision, and hearing coverage
- Gym memberships
- Wellness programs
- And more!
Medicare Advantage is unique and includes a range of policies. Some Part C plans also have their own provider networks, which is an excellent choice for those that want to see certain specialists for medical care.
Enrolling in Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage is sold through private insurance companies. Each individual company will have its own enrollment process, so if you’re looking to enroll, it’s best to research the companies in your area. Fortunately, Carolina Insurance Partners can help you do just that.
We will help you compare all your options so you know what’s available to you. Once this is determined, we’ll walk you through the enrollment process and let you know which enrollment period would suit you best to enroll during.
One enrollment period could be your Initial Enrollment Period, which is the period that starts three months before your 65th birthday month and ends three months after. Just remember that you will have to be enrolled in Original Medicare first before you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.
If you’re past your Initial Enrollment Period, you can also take advantage of the Annual Enrollment Period. This period starts on October 15 and ends on December 7 every year, allowing Medicare enrollees to make changes to their current Medicare coverage. These changes can include switching to Medicare Advantage from Original Medicare.
